So I'm in the pet emergency clinic because my cat (Minnie) was experiencing rectal bleeding, 3 nights into her anti-anxiety medication treatment. Worried they were related, I rushed her to this ER. I've been here since about 1am (it's 3:30am now). They did lots of bloodwork to check for UTI's or anything off (we believe she is the culprit of urinating on every couch in the house), extra lab work (urine analysis and fecal), and even x-rays (to check for a foreign body that she may have swallowed).

The x-rays, which alone were almost $200, ended up being the smart choice. It turns out Minnie has a blockage of poop. Yup...her poop is backed up all the way into her colon.

So $525 later, Minnie is about to be discharged after a battery of tests and an enema.

My cat sure has some expensive crap if you ask me.

Although I am disappointed to not receive any medical answer on her increased aggression lately (it's probably stress from the new dog and my other cat's infatuation with my roommate's cat), I feel much better knowing that those tests are out of the way and that she is, overall, healthy.

But bye bye birthday money and Christmas presents...

EDIT: The cool part is, though, that they put the x-ray images on a cd for me to take home. I'm eager4 to see what $500 poop looks like.

Pet emergencies are indeed expensive. We had a blockage issue with one of the ferrets awhile back and it cost several hundred for the overnight visit and scan.

We also just spent $700 on a different ferret's surgery. Bleh.

I'm so happy you took care of it. So many pet owner's refuse to spend money on animals that they have agreed to take care of.

Which one did you go to? I was at the one on Well's Rd. like, 2 weeks ago because of one of Jenn's pugs.

We have his x-rays on a cd too. Spent $400 that night for some diuretics and x-rays lol
